Loan Scam Alert!

Loan scams are commonly promoted through social media, emails, SMS, or unsolicited phone calls. Scammers often impersonate licensed moneylenders or platforms like FundedHere.

How does it operate?

Initial Contact

Attractive Offers

Scammers often lure victims with attractive offers and empty promises, such as instant approval, exceptionally low interest rates, and guaranteed approval. These are designed to sound too good to resist, especially for people urgently needing cash.

Request for Upfront Payment

Victims are typically asked to make payments for administrative fees, processing charges, insurance, or deposits. These payments are often requested to be sent to a personal bank account, which is a major red flag indicating a likely scam. â€‹

Vanishing Act

Once the victim transfers the money, the scammer vanishes. No loan is ever disbursed. Victims are often ignored, blocked, or left with no further communication, realizing too late that they’ve been scammed. â€‹

Further Exploitation (Sometimes)

In some cases, scammers continue to demand further payments, claiming unexpected delays or new administrative requirements. This continues until the victim eventually realizes they have been scammed. â€‹

Don’t be the next victim!

  • If a loan offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Real loans don’t come with unrealistic promises.

  • Always verify the legitimacy of a lender. For a list of licensed moneylenders in Singapore, visit the: Ministry of Law.

  • To find out more about Capital Market Service licenses, visit the: Financial Institutions Directory or FundedHere’s MAS Profile.

Investor Scam Alert!

Investor scams are deceptive schemes aimed at tricking individuals into making fraudulent investments by offering unrealistic promises of high returns or exclusive opportunities. These scams are often sophisticated and may appear legitimate, targeting unsuspecting investors through emails, websites, or social platforms.

They can take various forms, including:

Clone Firm Scams

Scammers impersonate legitimate financial institutions or investment platforms using similar names, websites, or registration details to mislead investors. The scammer will lure their victims to invest money, but the victims will never receive any returns.

Ponzi Schemes

A type of investment fraud where people are tricked into investing money with the promise of high returns and low risk. Instead of making real profits, the scammer pays earlier investors using the money from new investors. It works like a pyramid where the first people might get paid, but as more new investors stop joining, the scheme falls apart and most people lose their money.
